As many as 160 Applebee's and IHOP restaurants across the US could be on the chopping block in the first few months of 2018, while parent company DineEquity plans to open around 125 restaurants worldwide.

The company cites a significant decrease in the casual dining segment, as consumers are gravitating toward quick-service restaurants like Chipotle and Panera Bread.

The fates of Applebee's restaurants in Flint, Grand Blanc, and Burton, and the Miller Rd. IHOP are unknown at this time, as DineEquity has not released a list of under-performing stores it plans to shutter.
