Animal Torture Charges for Couple Who Let Dogs Starve [GRAPHIC VIDEO]
A Genesee County couple faces counts of animal torture or killing and could serve up to four years in prison for their role in the death of two dogs. A third dog is still alive and in the care of the Genesee County Humane Society.
Jennifer Koos and Martel Dykes dropped two severely malnourished dogs off at the Humane Society. A two-year-old dog described as a pit bull mix is expected to live, while the other died shortly after arrival at the humane society. A third dog died in the couple's home and its carcass was left for the other dogs to feed on while they were still in the couple's care.
Sheriff Robert Pickell tells ABC-12 four years isn't enough for the couple; he's a proponent of stricter sentences in animal abuse cases.
