Trust me - this isn't your granddad's Blazer.

When they asked me if I'd like to test drive the 2020 Blazer at Simms Chevrolet in Clio, my first instinct was...

I've always driven small cars, so to say that an SUV is "intimidating" is an understatement. Yes, big vehicles freak me out. My grandfather and my uncle had Blazers when I was growing up, so that's what I equated it with. BIG HONKIN' MAN TRUCKS.

However, I like to try new things, so I said, "Sure, let's go for it."

My first thought when walking up to the vehicle was, "That's a BLAZER? Seriously?"

Yes, seriously.

Salesman Mike Diener sat with me in and explained everything to me before I took it out. My favorite FIVE things about the new 2020 Blazer are:

1. The 8-inch touchscreen

The older I get, the more paranoid I get about NOT having to use my phone for ANYTHING while I drive. It's a touchscreen and it syncs up to your mobile device to project the images from your phone onto the screen. Hello, directions!

2. The blind spot indicator on the side mirror

The only part of my driving test that I failed when I was 16 was parallel parking. My depth perception is AWFUL, and I find myself checking my blind spot multiple times before changing lanes. With an SUV this size, this is a great feature - it lights up when somebody is in your blind spot so you don't have to rely on just your vision.

3. Three different modes

I stink at driving in the snow. You'll likely find me in the right lane, using extra caution. I've slid out in the past, so I'm super vigilant. The 2020 Chevy Blazer has three modes - tour (the most fuel-efficient), sport and snow. No matter where you're taking your Blazer, it's got a mode to fit your trip.

4. The heated seats and steering wheel

Need I say more? My booty was toasty! And you don't have to wear gloves while you drive in the winter.

5. The backup camera

Did I already mention that my depth perception sucks? Yes, I did. The backup camera is outrageously helpful and accurate for derps like me.

This is NOT my grandfather's Blazer. It's sleek, sporty, roomy and has everything I need for every situation and every season.
