The 2012 London Olympic Games opening ceremonies will take place tomorrow night then the competition will begin in earnest.  Flint area sports fans have two local athletes that have a good chance to bring home a medal.

17-year old boxer Claressa Shields will take part in the first ever Olympic Women's Boxing, and has a great chance to not only win a medal, but to bring home gold.  She will be fighting in the 75 kg division but won't see action until the second week of the Olympics.

Grand Blanc runner Geena Gall will represent the USA in the 800 meter run in the track and field competition.  While not favored to win gold, she has been running well as of late and could make the podium.  She could surprise at London.

The Flint area has plenty to cheer for at this Olympic games, and both young ladies have already made us proud.
