Two United Nations Human Rights experts were in Detroit to examine the effects of the water shut-off.

After activists made a plea to the UN Human Rights Office,  Leilani Farha and Catarina de Albuquerque came to town yesterday to observe the effects of the recent water service shut-offs. They said that it mainly hurts the poor and the most vulnerable, including those with serious health problems.

After meeting with Mayor Duggan and residents who have had their water shut-off, the experts described it as a "man-made perfect storm" and that they've never seen anything like the situation in Detroit. They cite falling population and rising unemployment for the problems, and they're calling on city officials to restore water to the poor.

Yikes...sounds like there's no easy solution here. What do you think? Should the city restore water service to the poor? Read the rest of the details HERE
