The Tigers had been a streaky team so far this season.  Win 4 or 5.  Lose 4 or 5.  Repeat.  Justin Verlander got some help from the big guy, Miguel Cabrera, who hit a two-run homer with two outs in the 9th to give his team the lead.  Tigers win 4-2.

The Tigers had a boatload of opportunities to score runs last night, but couldn't cash in on many of them.  The Tigers also had a golden opportunity to gain some ground on first-place Cleveland (they lost big to Texas), but again could not make it happen.

The Detroit Tigers continued their domination of the Minnesota Twins tonight, beating them 4-2.  Rick Porcello got into some trouble in the 7th inning, but the bullpen managed to keep the Twins off the scoreboard the rest of the way for the Tiger win.

In any other year, this was a game that Minnesota would have found a way to win against the Tigers.  The injury-riddled Twins are the worst team in baseball this year, and let the Tigers come from behind multiple times to eventually win 8-7.

The Tigers played small-ball, long-ball and finally won on a disputed call in defeating the Minnesota Twins 6-5 today.  The Tigers took an early 3-0 lead, then gave it back to Minnesota 5-3.  Victor Martinez hit a two run homer to tie the game

Justin Verlander pitched like he was trying to stop a losing streak.  His teammates gave him some early run support, and it was enough for the Tigers to split a day-night doubleheader with a 3-0 win in the second game.

Jose Valverde just isn't very good in non-save situations.  He's 11 for 11 in save situations this season, but takes a loss after giving up a  long home run to pinch-hitter David Ortiz in the 9th inning.

The streaky Detroit Tigers lost their second straight game, this time by a 6-3 score to the Boston Red Sox.  Knuckleballer Tim Wakefield stymied the Tigers hitters while Rick Porcello got the bum's rush after just three innings and six Boston runs.

Max Scherzer didn't have it today.  He was clobbered by the Red Sox for 7 runs in a couple of innings.

They managed to get in a couple of innings in the game between the Tampa Bay Rays and Detroit Tigers this afternoon.  Then the rains came.  The rain is still falling, so the two teams will play a make-up game on Monday,  June 13th at 7:05 pm at Comerica Park...

Justin Verlander didn't have his "A" game tonight.  The Tiger ace  gave up six runs in six innings and left the game trailing 6-5.  His teammates bailed him out this time as Alex Avila hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 8th to give the Tigers a 7-6 victory.

The Tigers won for the second day in a row, beating the Tampa Bay Rays 6-3.  Two Tigers who were in Toledo a couple of weeks ago made big contributions in the victory.  Andy Dirks hit his first Major League home run in the 5th inning to tie the game up at 1-1.
