Max Scherzer didn't have it today.  He was clobbered by the Red Sox for 7 runs in a couple of innings.   The game was called in the bottom of the 8th after a lengthy rain delay.  It was a merciful gesture to the Tigers, who were down 14-1.  Nothing good could have come from finishing this one.

The only bright spot for the Tigers was the pitching performance of rookie Adam Wilk.  Wilk made his Major League debut in relief of Scherzer, and limited the powerful Boston lineup to one unearned run in 3 & 2/3 rds innings of work.

Ryan Perry had another horrible relief appearance, giving up 4 runs in just over an inning.

The Tigers get three more games to try to slow down the bats of the red-hot Red Sox, next one is tomorrow night at 7:05.   Rick Porcello will try to unravel the Bosox, who have scored 14 runs in two consecutive games.
