Starter Rick Porcello held the heavy-hitting Ranger lineup to just one run in six innings to rack up his sixth win of the season.
June 7, 2011 Max Scherzer had another rough outing for the Detroit Tigers. After two consecutive starts where he gave up seven runs in each game, Scherzer only gave up five runs in five innings. He got an awful lot of help this time, and left the game with a 9-5 lead. The Tigers kept piling on, and Scherzer was rewarded with his 7th win of the season.
June 5, 2011 This one got off to a rough start for the Tigers and their starting pitcher Brad Penny. Penny was nicked for two runs in the opening inning and was in and out of trouble after that. In the 4th inning, the Tiger offense erupted for 6 runs, 4 coming on a Ryan Raburn grand slam homer.
June 4, 2011 The Tigers had been a streaky team so far this season. Win 4 or 5. Lose 4 or 5. Repeat. Justin Verlander got some help from the big guy, Miguel Cabrera, who hit a two-run homer with two outs in the 9th to give his team the lead. Tigers win 4-2.
June 4, 2011 The Tigers had a boatload of opportunities to score runs last night, but couldn't cash in on many of them. The Tigers also had a golden opportunity to gain some ground on first-place Cleveland (they lost big to Texas), but again could not make it happen.
June 1, 2011 The Detroit Tigers continued their domination of the Minnesota Twins tonight, beating them 4-2. Rick Porcello got into some trouble in the 7th inning, but the bullpen managed to keep the Twins off the scoreboard the rest of the way for the Tiger win.
May 31, 2011 In any other year, this was a game that Minnesota would have found a way to win against the Tigers. The injury-riddled Twins are the worst team in baseball this year, and let the Tigers come from behind multiple times to eventually win 8-7.
May 30, 2011 The Tigers played small-ball, long-ball and finally won on a disputed call in defeating the Minnesota Twins 6-5 today. The Tigers took an early 3-0 lead, then gave it back to Minnesota 5-3. Victor Martinez hit a two run homer to tie the game
May 29, 2011 Justin Verlander pitched like he was trying to stop a losing streak. His teammates gave him some early run support, and it was enough for the Tigers to split a day-night doubleheader with a 3-0 win in the second game.

May 27, 2011 The streaky Detroit Tigers lost their second straight game, this time by a 6-3 score to the Boston Red Sox. Knuckleballer Tim Wakefield stymied the Tigers hitters while Rick Porcello got the bum's rush after just three innings and six Boston runs.
May 26, 2011 Max Scherzer didn't have it today. He was clobbered by the Red Sox for 7 runs in a couple of innings.
