Friday, November 11th at noon the Salvation Army will kick off the 2011 Red Kettle Campaign with a special ceremony at their downtown offices in Flint. The local goal for 2011 will be announced then and light refreshments will be served. Last year, nearly 1 million dollars was raised to help families in need in Flint and Genesee County. The majority of the Salvation Army's funds come from the Red Kettle campaign, so they hope you can help when you see their bellringers.
The funds raised help people with food and shelter assistance throughout the winter and helped more than 1400 families with Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance. More than 60 Red Kettles will be located at retailers and businesses such as Kroger, Walmart, Genesee Valley Center, Sam's Club and Walgreens.
The Salvation Army can always use help from volunteers, and urge you to visit their website to learn more: www.salarmygenesee.org

Change does make a difference. Please remember to drop a few coins in the red kettles as you shop this season.
