There's only a few more days left where you can donate to the Salvation Army red kettles. You've seen them set up at a variety of locations throughout Genesee County and unfortunately donations are down right now. The number of families receiving help with toys, food and clothing has reached almost 1,300 and you can still help by donating to the kettle or buying a toy for someone else in need.

The families that are receiving Christmas assistance this year will be able to stop by the Salvation Army next week to pick up some items on their list. I was talking to some people at the Salvation Army as they've been setting up their Christmas store and they said over 2,000 kids will need toys this year. They have toys but could still use some help with toys for the older kids ages nine to 14.

If you could try to pick up an extra toy this weekend while you're out shopping or put some money into the red kettles, the Salvation Army would greatly appreciate any support.
