For many Flint-area runners and walkers, after the Crim it was time to hang up the running shoes. Not anymore. The Crim Fitness Foundation is a partner with the Brooksie Way half marathon and 5k, and this race distance is a natural extension for those who just finished a 10-mile event 5 weeks ago. The Brooksie Way race starts in Rochester Hills at Oakland University on Sunday morning (Oct. 2) at 8.
The 13.1 mile course will take runners and walkers along paved roads, dirt roads and some rails-to-trails. Participants will encounter some rolling hills, perhaps a few that bring up comparison to Bradley Avenue in Flint. Plenty of aid and support will be available on the course, with entertainment at several spots to keep you going. The race finishes at Meadowbrook Music theater where you can enjoy a new and improved post-race celebration.

The Brooksie Way fitness expo/packet pickup will take place at the Oakland University Recreation Center in Rochester on Friday from 4-8 pm and Saturday from 9am to 7 pm. A pasta party will be Saturday from 4-7 pm at the expo.
