Every state indeed has those fascinating and unique towns, but some just stand out a little for those unique and unusual reasons.

Flushing isn't the "land of toilets" as kids used to joke. And Christmas, Michigan isn't Frankenmuth.

When Michigan became the 26th state in the Union January 26th, 1837 some of these towns were settlements or villages and would later become cities.

You can do a lot of things in Hell, and the tiny town in Michigan did a thing yesterday (4/24). They elected a cat to serve as mayor of the city for a day.
