When I was a kid we had school pictures taken once a year, in the fall when the academic year started. I didn't know until my kids started going to school that they apparently take spring pictures now too. When I was first asked to shell out twice as much cash for school pictures, I thought it was a really dumb idea. But today, after hearing this story, I've totally changed my mind. After all, if it weren't for spring pictures, this magical moment would never have happened.

It was picture day at Pearsontown Magnet Elementary, when a third-grade boy was next in line for his photo shoot.
