REO’s Kevin Cronin Opens Up to Michigan Crowd About Gary Richrath’s Death [VIDEO]

One week after the passing of Gary Richrath, Kevin Cronin and REO Speedwagon took the stage at Freedom Hill Amphitheater in Sterling Heights, and opened the show with a touching tribute to his friend and former band brother.

"It sucks, and I hate it, and I'm angry about it, and I wish the world didn't work that way ... "

Here's what else sucks. The video quality. My son and I attended (and very much enjoyed) the show last night (9/20), but we sat on the lawn, and this was the best video I could get with my phone. (At 17, I'm sure Nick was the youngest person in the crowd.)

So the video quality isn't great, and I missed the first couple of seconds of Cronin's tribute. But sentiment is absolutely genuine. Well done, sir.
