Parents Give Unemployed Son $250K And Tell Him To Get Lost
Earlier this week, a man took to Reddit seeking some advice after his parents gave him $250,000 to move out and never speak to them again. Apparently, this man has performed slightly above average all of his life and tried to stay out of everyone's way.
The Reddit contributor, known as optimalcontrol, claims he was always compared to his older brother, who was the best at everything from academics to athletics. When the older brother passed away a few years ago, optimalcontrol's relationship with his parents got worse.
Things improved when he moved away to go to college, but things got even worse when he moved home after school. Despite several interviews and attempts at employment, optimalcontrol was having no luck. Then things really heated up when his parents decided they wanted nothing to do with him.
I’ve been 'bought off' by my parents. They told me I am no longer welcome to live with them, and I guess in some sort of twisted way of not feeling bad about it, they are giving me $250,000 to not contact them ever again.
What do you think of this bizarre situation. Do you think optimalcontrol is leaving out a few details, or despite all that do you think his parents are way out of line?
