It seems more and more retailers are closing their doors lately as they're finding it nearly impossible to compete with online shopping and inflation.

It's even more challenging for retailers that operate out of malls to stay in business as that way of shopping is quickly becoming a thing of the past.

Over recent years, shoppers have been forced to say goodbye to some of their favorite stores, including Toys R Us, Bed Bath & Beyond, Art Van Furniture, and many more.

What Retailer in Michigan is Closing?

The Body Shop, a UK-based company, was an up-and-comer in the market but is closing its doors for good.

According to CNN, The Body Shop has closed all of its operations in the United States and is currently in the process of shuttering multiple store locations across Canada following its bankruptcy filing.

What Kind of Retail Store is The Body Shop?

Honestly, I never heard of The Body Shop until I heard it was closing for good. Probably because it's a cosmetic store and there were only a handful in the Metro Detroit area.

The Body Shop's products are marketed as natural, sustainable, ethical, and cruelty-free. It was one of the first companies to prohibit testing on animals for many of its products.

The Body Shop was founded in the UK in 1976 and by 2023, it had expanded to more than 2,500 retail locations in more than 80 countries.
