A woman on Reddit says her boyfriend is pressuring her into marrying him, and even gave her an ultimatum.

"He needs to marry for immigration and religious reasons. He told me he needs to make this next step in his life and that he has to do better in practicing his faith. He is broke and has a poor credit score. In his religion the man is responsible for his wife, so I’m just wondering how I would be taken care of if this is his current situation," she wrote.

"I don’t feel comfortable getting married if we are going to be struggling financially right from the get go," the woman continued.

In an attempt to pressure her, the woman's boyfriend even told her that he's "gotten opportunities" from other women that are "interested in marrying him."

"He said he declined or ignored all of them because he wants to be with me. I don’t know if this is true or if he’s trying to make me jealous. I talked to my mom about it and she said she feels he is brainwashing me and that I should not be pressured into this," she concluded.

In the comments, Reddit users urged the woman to leave her boyfriend.

"Sounds like that means you will have zero guilt about leaving him since he'll find another woman to take care of his low income and bad credit right away!" one person wrote.

"Yep! Drop him like a hot potato, dude," another user chimed in.

"This is a manipulation tactic called triangulation. He’s doing this to manufacture scarcity and incite jealousy. It's a fake demand. No women are lining up to marry your [boyfriend]," someone else commented.

Celebrities Who Found Religion

While this is an obstacle all celebrities face, many of our favorite actors, singers and other celebrities have turned to religion to help cope with the pressure of celebrity and find their inner faith.
