Be Kind to Spiders Week, Don’t Squish em’!

If it were up to my wife, Spiders wouldn't exist. Same goes for snakes. So she's not sending out any cards or gifts for "Be Kind to Spiders Week," which is the first week of April. Spiders are actually quite beneficial to have around your home, once you get past the creepy-crawlieness.

Spiders are predators of insects and occasionally small animals. Technically, spiders are not classified as insects, but rather are arachnids. Insects have three parts to their bodies and six legs. Most spiders found in Michigan (native to Michigan) are harmless to humans.

Wipe out the spiders in your home, and you may soon be overrun with lots of other bugs. That's what I tell my wife. I saw what she did to a snake one time (she swings a mean rake). Spiders know of her, and keep their distance.
