What’s Happening To Thanksgiving?

I was having a conversation the other day with a friend of mine about Thanksgiving.  He told me that he had asked his 9-year-old son if he knew what Thanksgiving was really all about. He said it's about giving thanks for all the great deals that will be available on Black Friday, and the big meal is so that we have enough strength to to shop.

I know his response was cute, but is there about to be a whole generation of kids out there who really have no clue as to what Thanksgiving is all about ?  I am a huge fan of both Thanksgiving and Christmas - I like to try and make them both last as long as possible. They both mean happy times  for me and my family, maybe we should all slow down a little and enjoy the moment.
