University of Michigan President Mary Sue Coleman has approved the final report in implementation of the new smoke-free policy that goes into effect on all U of M campuses on July 1st.

All U-M facilities, buildings and grounds will be smoke-free, all parking structures and surface lots will also be smoke-free.  Smokers can light up in private vehicles or on public sidewalks.  The goal of the new policy is to promote a healthy campus.  Faculty, staff and family members will be eligible for smoking cessation programs.  Help for students wanting to quit will also be available.  For details:  http://www.smokefree.umich.edu/
