The streaky Detroit Tigers lost their second straight game, this time by a 6-3 score to the Boston Red Sox.  Knuckleballer Tim Wakefield stymied the Tigers hitters while Rick Porcello got the bum's rush after just three innings and six Boston runs.

They managed to get in a couple of innings in the game between the Tampa Bay Rays and Detroit Tigers this afternoon.  Then the rains came.  The rain is still falling, so the two teams will play a make-up game on Monday,  June 13th at 7:05 pm at Comerica Park

 gave up six runs in six innings and left the game trailing 6-5.  His teammates bailed him out this time as Alex Avila hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 8th to give the Tigers a 7-6 victory.

Tigers Top Tampa, Rookies Come Up Big

The Tigers won for the second day in a row, beating the Tampa Bay Rays 6-3.  Two Tigers who were in Toledo a couple of weeks ago made big contributions in the victory.  Andy Dirks hit his first Major League home run in the 5th inning to tie the game up at 1-1.

Porcello Puts Away Pittsburgh, Tigers Win!

The Tiger hitters continued to be underachievers, scoring only two runs in today's game with Pittsburgh.  Rick Porcello made that work for a win as he pitched 8 innings of 1-hit shutout ball.  Since this was an interleague game, pitchers get to hit in the National League parks and Porcello got his third career Major League hit as he beat out an infield single.

Tigers Pounded By Pittsburgh Again. Losing Streak At Five

Max Scherzer wasn't exactly horrible, but he did suffer his first loss of the season as Pittsburgh beat Detroit 6-2.  The main problem is that the Tiger bats remained silent for eight of the nine innings in last night's loss, which is the team's 5th in a row.

Brad Penny kept his team in the game for a few innings, but his control wasn't good tonight and he walked six batters, many of whom scored.  It didn't really matter, as the Tigers could only cross the plate one time in a 10-1 thrashing by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Tigers Lose Another Heartbreaker 4-3

Justin Verlander pitched well enough to win.  As usual, his team didn't give him much in the way of help.  Verlander pitched eight innings, striking out nine batters and giving up three runs.  The Tigers tied the game up in the eighth inning on back-to-back homers from Brennan Boesch and Miguel Cabrera, but couldn't deliver in the clutch when they had a great opportunity.
