I am an Organ Donor.  Or I should say that someday I will be.  When I renewed my Michigan driver's license I let the Secretary of State office know that I want to donate my organs and tissue when I die.  My driver's license has a little red heart emblem and the word "Donor" enscribed on it.  Right now, there are over 3000 people in Michigan waiting for an organ

and without more people making their wishes to donate known, many of them won't get the lifesaving transplant they need.

Becoming an organ donor means that in the midst of a time of grief and sorrow, someone else can experience joy and renewed hope.  It's the right thing to do.  If it isn't time to renew your driver's license, you can still sign up to be an organ donor through the Michigan Secretary of State website:  www.Michigan.gov/sos Those that sign up will recieve a red heart sticker in the mail to put on their license or state ID card which lets law enforcement and medical personnel know that you are on the Michigan Organ Donor Registry.

There's a little red heart on my driver's license.  And a lot of folks that need you to get one too.  Be an Organ Donor.
