New MI Law Would Ban Smoking In Vehicles With Passengers Under The Age of 18
Is this another case of the government butting in where they don't belong?.
If you are a smoker, get ready for another restriction.
Legislation was announced in Lansing on Wednesday that would make it illegal for any tobacco product to be lit in a vehicle when a person under the age of 18 is a passenger. Violators would pay a $500 fine, and as a primary offense an officer could pull a motorist over if they spot a violation.
In a recent poll conducted by the University of Michigan, 82% of adults would support a ban on smoking in vehicles where children under the age of 13 are present.
We want to hear from you. Take the poll below.
