A new director has been chosen to take over at Flint's Bishop International Airport.

After a nine-month search that began with 30 candidates, Craig Williams has been chosen to take over for current airport director Jim Rice, who is retiring in October. MLive says Williams, the current director of operations and facilities for the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport, was unanimously voted into the position on Tuesday afternoon.

Williams said becoming an airport director has been a lifelong goal of his and regarding Bishop International Airport and Flint, he said "I'm excited about the opportunity to be up there. It's a neat airport. I've had the opportunity to visit there in the past through my previous job and just go through Flint. I really like the airport."

Rice announced his retirement late last year after 24 years in the position and 44 years in the aviation industry.
