As people are getting ready to head out for the Memorial Day weekend, MDOT is removing some of the restrictions to help ease traffic delays for holiday travelers.

MDOT says they will remove lane restrictions on nearly three-quarters of its road projects in an effort to help ease traffic delays for holiday travelers. More than 1.1 million motorists are expected to take to the roads during the annual kick-off to summer.

Beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday and continuing to 6 a.m. Tuesday, 80 of the 108 projects statewide will have their lane restrictions removed. Around Flint, that means all lanes of I-75 will be open during the holiday weekend, however motorists should expect shoulder closures and a traffic shift under Grand Blanc Road.
