While the Christmas season hasn't offcially started for most of us, it's not too early to start planning for it. The Flint Downtown Development Authority is seeking participants for the 2011 Holiday Parade which annually features holiday-themed floats and banners. The parade is scheduled for Tuesday, November 29th at 6:00 pm. There is a top prize of $400 for the best-made float.
Schools, churches, non-profit organizations and businesses are all welcome to participate. Choirs are also encouraged to contact the DDA for singing opportunities in the downtown area.
The Holiday Parade is a great way to kick off winter, as downtown Flint illuminates with the magic of the holiday season with an evening of fun for the entire family. From 5-6 pm entertainment will be found in all of downtown Flint, featuring the Flint Institute of Music's First Symphony Orchestra Brass Quartet, singers from the New McCree Theatre and many others.

At 6:00 pm the parade will proceed from 2nd Avenue and Saginaw through the downtown area to S. Saginaw and 4th Street. Upon his arrival at the end of the parade, Santa Claus will be available for pictures at no cost to the first 300 children.
