For the first time, the families of military personnel killed while serving on active duty will be able to honor their loved ones with a special Gold Star License Plate.

This announcement was made yesterday by Secretary of State Ruth Johnson, Sen. John Pappageorge (R-Troy) and Rep. Robert Genetski (R-Saugatuck), and legislation approving the measure was signed today by Governor Rick Snyder.  The new Gold Star plates, along with plates featuring the official seals of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and National Guard will be available for purchase after the 4th of July holiday.  For more information about license plates, visit:  www.Michigan.gov/sos
