There will be a new teacher, but a familiar face, when classes begin at U of M - Flint this fall.

Flint Mayor Dayne Walling will teach teach a political science course this fall on Thursday nights according to MLive. When done with his mayoral duties, Walling will trade his suit and tie for a textbook as he looks to give back. Walling said "I think it's important to give back as an elected official and help students and emerging leaders understand the real-world issues that are faced by our communities." He'll be the instructor for POL 324: Seminar in Applied Politics.

Mayors teaching in classrooms at the college level is fairly common throughout Michigan according to the article. They are leaders in the community so its not unlikely to see them as leaders in the classroom.

Way to give back Mr. Mayor!
