As I was listening to the game between the Tigers and Giants on the way home from a family get-together, I heard announcer Dan Dickerson describe the San Francisco team as "light-hitting".  Not that I am superstitious, but I knew we were doomed after he uttered those words over the airwaves.

The "light-hitting" Giants slammed two homers and scored 5 runs off Max Scherzer in the first inning.  Then the rains came.  After a 2 hour and 36 minute rain delay, Scherzer went back out there.  And the "light-hitting" Giants scored 5 more in the 3rd.  And kept scoring.  I'll spare you the details, the final score was Giants 15, Tigers 3.

The loss drops the Tigers 1 & 1/2 games behind first-place Cleveland in the A.L. Central.  Don't look now, but Chicago is only two games behind the Tigers.

The Tigers and Giants will wind up Interleague play today with an afternoon contest at Comerica Park.  Rick Porcello will try to contain the "Bay-Area Bashers" in the 1:05 pm game.  If you're going to the game, bring your glove.  You might get to pitch.
