Charlie Furbush made his first Major League start tonight, and didn't do a bad job.  He almost got through 5 innings and his team still had a good chance to win.  The only thing missing was a clutch hit by the Tigers.  Detroit only had 5 hits in the game and was only 2 for 11 with runners in scoring position, and only one of those runs actually scored.  Jhonny Peralta drove home Magglio Ordonez with the Tigers' solitary run in the 4th inning.

While the Tigers came up empty with most of their scoring chances, the Angels had far fewer opportunities, but managed to cash in on most of them.  When the last out was recorded, the Angels were 5-1 winners over Detroit.

The loss drops the Tigers to 1 and a half games behind Cleveland in the American League Central as the Indians won again today.  The Chicago White Sox are right behind Detroit, just two games back of the Tigers.

Tigers and Angels play again Tuesday night in Anaheim.  Justin Verlander starts for Detroit, looking for his 12th win of the season.  Game starts at 10:10 pm.  You might need to catch a nap so you can stay up late to watch this one!
