The redneck way of life is in the spotlight this weekend, as Captain's Quarters Lounge hosts its fourth annual 'Burtucky Days' Festival.

In the interest of full disclosure, I always thought the term 'Burtucky' was a derogatory, yet harmless nickname for the Flint suburb. I owned a house in Burton for a couple of years, and I've worked in Burton since 1991, so I've always felt justified in poking a little fun our little city.

Turns out, there's some legitimacy to the term 'Burtucky.'

"Years ago, General Motors came to town, they needed workers and brought workers up here from Kentucky and they became Burtuckians in Burton," Greg Benjamin from Captain's Quarters tells ABC-12.

Proceeds from the festival, which runs through Saturday, benefit the Old Newsboys of Flint.
