Officials at Freeland's MBS airport say three passengers survived when their small, single-engine plane crashed onto a runway Monday.

The Cessna 170 crashed just after 10 am. Airport Manager Jeff Nagel tells WEYI that the two men and one woman on board were lucky not to sustain serious injuries.

"The aircraft is sitting on top, so it flipped completely upside down," Nagel said.

The crash remains under investigation.
