What a fantastic idea AND she's from my hometown!

Vicki Spiering lives in Wauwatosa (say it like this - wah-wuh-TOW-suh), Wisconsin, which is a suburb of Milwaukee. It's also where I grew up, so I'm a little bit biased. This MIGHT be my friend from high school's mom, but hey, good news is good news, right?

She had already for sewing masks for over a month when her neighbor, Liz, asked her for a favor. Liz is hard-of-hearing and also works for a nonprofit called HEAR Wisconsin; she asked Vicki if she could make see-through masks so that people who are also hard of hearing can see expressions and read lips.

Vicki has made about 80 see-through masks so far, made out of cotton and plastic. Since she can't keep up with the demand, she's released a manual with step-by-step instructions.

Thank you, Vicki, for being so selfless and proactive. Say hi to your son Ryan for me!
