Students will be back in the classroom on Monday.

Freeman Elementary School in Flint is the only school in the Flint district that has elected to move to a balanced calendar, which is basically the "nice" way of saying "year-round school."

Students will be back in the classroom on Monday, which principal Anita Steward says she's been looking forward to for several years. "With a short summer we'll be able to jump right in and get started with that grade level material and not waste time reviewing," she told WNEM.

A balanced calendar allows for a shorter summer vacation but longer and more frequent breaks during the year. Do you think all Flint schools should do this? Davison is another district in the county that has a balanced year.
