It's the first UAW strike since 2007 and the workers are out in full force.

The decision was made this morning at a meeting in Detroit.

Looks like the strike is over at Nexteer Automotive thanks to a second tentative agreement.

The strike between blood services workers and the American Red Cross has been suspended, with the staff returning to work without a contract. Negotiations will continue between the union and the Red Cross to resolve the issues that led to the strike and a stoppage of blood collections for several weeks.

I was supposed to donate platelets at the Flint Red Cross Donor Center this weekend. My appointment was canceled as more than 200 American Red Cross workers in Michigan went on strike this morning. Staff members represented by the Office and Professional Employees International Union and Teamsters walked out because of a dispute over health care benefits.
