Earvin "Magic" Johnson grew up in Mid-Michigan. He played high school hoops at Lansing Everett, college at MSU (where he helped the Spartans win a national championship), then went on to a Hall of Fame career in the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers. There is a statue of Johnson in front of the L.A. Staples Center. Now, the Spartan/Laker legend will be a regular sight in the owner's box

Austin Jackson had the day off today.  Casper Wells started in centerfield and led off the game with a home run.  The Tigers hit 4 homers today and looked like they might enjoy an easy victory.

The Tigers continue to stink it up on the road.  Their bats took another night off in losing 6-1 to the L.A. Dodgers.  Tiger batters could only manage 7 hits, and all of them were singles.  Max Scherzer was roughed up again, allowing 6 Dodger runs in six innings of work.

Clayton Kershaw was pitching for the Great Lakes Loons a couple of years ago.  Last night in Los Angeles, Kershaw had Tiger hitters feeling a bit loony.  Kershaw threw a 2-hit shutout, striking out 11 Tiger batters including all 3 in the 9th.  He also drove in two runs in the 8th inning for some icing on his cake.
