Just like last night, this one came down to the very last batter.  Magglio Ordonez continued his hot hitting since coming back from the DL by blasting a two-run homer in the first inning to put the Tigers in the  lead.  They would stay there despite closer Jose Valverde's best effort to give all Tiger fans a coronary.

Ryan Raburn closed his eyes and swung the bat as hard as he could.  The Kansas City pitcher hit his bat in the sweet spot and Raburn was rewarded with a two-run homer in the second inning.  That turned out to be all the offense Max Scherzer and the Tigers would need to get their second win in a row.

The Tigers had the lead until the 7th inning last night.  Too bad baseball games are nine innings.  Baltimore came up with 5 runs in the 7th and beat the Tigers 9-5 continuing Detroit's road woes.  The good news?  Our home opener is today at Comerica Park.

The Detroit Tigers got their second win of the 2011 season tonight, beating the previously unbeaten Baltimore Orioles 7-3 behind the stellar pitching of Justin Verlander and the slugging of catcher Alex Avila.  Verlander struck out 9 in 8 innings of work in picking up his first win of the year, while Avila drove in 5 runs with a double, homer and a single...
