With the official start of spring today, and a warm up hopefully right around the corner, the Michigan State Police is encouraging residents to be prepared for flooding.
The weather has been strange over the past few months, and it looks like it's about to get a whole lot stranger. Many rivers in Genesee County are finally getting back to normal after reaching flood stage or higher last week. Brace yourself for high winds, dangerous lightning and possible tornadoes on top of more flooding.
As residents along the Mississippi River continued to cope with flooding on Thursday, the river, already at record levels, was set to crest in Vicksburg, Miss. on Thursday morning.
The river was at 57.2 feet in Vicksburg on Wednesday morning, a level well above the previous record of 56.2 feet set on May 4, 1927, according to the National Weather Service. The river was expected to reach 57.5 feet
