Steven Tyler’s Jeweler Dishes on Engagement Ring

Congratulations are in order for ‘American Idol‘ judge and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler! After rumors broke out early this week, the rocker’s longtime jeweler confirmed that Tyler did indeed pop the question to Erin Brady in Hawaii over the holidays.

Tyler and Brady have been dating for five years. Here’s hoping the third time is the charm for Tyler, who’s been married twice. Tyler’s first marriage was to model Cyrinda Foxe from 1978 to 1987; he divorced clothing designer Teresa Barrick in 2006.

In any case, he’s putting in a lot of effort — at least for the ring! Tyler’s jeweler, Loree Rodkin, revealed to PEOPLE that the engagement ring was a surprise for Brady — and somewhat of a surprise for Tyler, since Rodkin custom made the bling. “He was working, so I picked stones, built settings, showed him choices and sent him pictures on his phone,” Rodkin told PEOPLE. “He asked for guidance but the choice was his. Having made jewelry for both Erin and Steven made it an effortless process, as I know their taste.” Based on the photos of Brady’s bling, the girl has excellent taste — both in jewelry and in fiances!

So what are the details of the rocker’s engagement rock? Tyler and Rodkin collaborated on a five-carat brilliant-cut diamond atop a diamond and platinum band. Maybe Tyler was inspired by Aerosmith’s multi-platinum record sales. Congrats to the happy couple!
