Condos Planned for Walker Farms Property in Burton, Residents Not Happy
Some Burton residents are feeling a little uneasy after hearing that a developer plans to build condominiums on a portion of the Walker Farms property on Atherton Road.
MLive reports that Rade Beslac from Fenton Land Surveying & Engineering Inc., an engineer on the project, informed commission members that the development would feature a total of 94 units.
As soon as someone shared information about the plan with the Burton City Chat group on Facebook, the negative comments started pouring in.
Many residents who voiced their concerns are upset about the plan to build condos on Walker Farms. They think the community should protest and are a little confused about why the farm is being developed now since it's still being used for planting. Some are angry that taxpayers are paying for this while city officials benefit financially, and there are worries that it will affect local schools and make nearby properties more expensive. Others suggest that unfinished neighborhoods should be the focus, not new projects. Overall, people are frustrated about new developments and the high costs associated with them.

So many people were so busy freaking out over the project plan that they failed to realize the property owner is also the developer. It's also worth noting that only a portion of the Walker Farms property will be used for development.
It's unclear when the project will start or be completed.
