So let’s rewind a couple of days because, honestly, what in the heck is going on here?

If you live anywhere near Flint or spend five minutes on social media, you probably saw it. A local report said Sweetwater Tavern in Downtown Flint was closed for good. Permanently. Done. Lights out.

And just like that, everyone believed it. Including us.

I’m not sure how the confusion started or why a local news outlet reported that Sweetwater was closed, but not so fast. Sweetwater is now saying that the report is not true.

In fact, they addressed it directly on Facebook, posting:

We are still open. Here til 2am
Fake news, we are not closing

How does something like this even happen?

One report turns into a headline. The headline turns into screenshots. The screenshots turn into “Did you hear?” And before you know it, the damage is already done.

So, to clear it up. Sweetwater Tavern is still here. It didn’t suddenly vanish, and it’s not permanently closed.

If you told someone it was closed, well, now you know. And if you were confused like everyone else, same.
