Detroit-style pizza is a real crowd-pleaser, but Detroit coffee is not.

A recent list of best coffee cities in America has the Motor City close to dead last. According to Wallet Hub, Detroit is one of the worst coffee cities in the United States.

I know nothing about the coffee scene in Detroit, so I cannot agree or disagree with the city coming in at #96 out of 100 cities on the list.

It's no surprise to see Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington, in the top three. Seattle even makes a CNN list of places serving the world's best coffee. London takes the number one spot on that list.

How did Wallet Hub determine its list of best coffee cities in America?

Wallet Hub used the following criteria,

WalletHub compared the 100 largest cities across 12 key indicators of coffee lover-friendliness. Our data set ranges from coffee shops, coffee houses, and cafés per capita to the average price per pack of coffee to the share of residents with coffee makers at home.

That sure sounds like coffee science to me.

I am not a coffee snob, to me coffee is coffee. Sure, some blends are better than others, but I will drink any coffee - as long as it is hot and immediately available when I wake up.
