A major eyesore on Center Road in Burton is finally no more.

If your daily commute takes you down Center Road in Burton, you've probably noticed it narrows to one lane heading north in front of Meijer due to construction. And you’ve likely spotted that the long-abandoned Mancino’s Pizza and Grinders building is no longer standing.

Mancino’s Pizza and Grinders has been closed for many years, but the exact year it closed is unclear. There isn't much information about the building online, besides that it was built in 1972. I believe it was a Stagebrush store or something with a similar name back in the day.

UPDATE - According to comments on Facebook, it was a 'Sagebrush' store that was similar to a Levi’s store.

Let's just say it's been closed for so long that it's hard to remember when it was even open.

The building had been on the market for the past four years for $599,000.

The building was demolished in the latter part of last week, and now residents want to know what's going in its place. It's unclear if someone bought the property or if the city had it condemned and demolished.

Brooke Morin, who works at Meijer behind the former building, sent us a photo after the demolition and says they haven't heard what the now vacant lot will be used for.

It’s a prime piece of property with endless potential, especially considering the heavy traffic that passes by every day.

What would you like to see replace the former Mancino’s Pizza and Grinders?

Whatever they decide to do with that property will be much better than looking at the eyesore along Center Road.
