Why Genesee County Residents May Experience Rusty Water
Starting September 30th, Genesee County residents may experience cloudy or rusty water.
According to a media release sent to Townsquare Media Flint on September 25th from the Charter Township of Genesee, cloudy or rusty water conditions may happen through October 7th. This is due to the fact that Charter Township of Genesee will be conducting routine hydrant flushing during that period.
Per the release, the flushing is to take place from 11 pm to 7 am throughout those days.
Charter Township of Genesee's release did provide advice for anyone who may experience these less-than-stellar water conditions. They advise anyone who notices cloudy or rusty water to simply allow the water to run for a few minutes until it clears. They also recommend avoiding washing white clothing during these hours, as it may lead to staining.
If questions arise, residents are urged to reach out to the Genesee Township Department of Public Works office at 810-640-2000 prompt 5.
"This routine maintenance is essential to ensure the safety and quality of our water supply," the release reads.
