Flint’s Claressa Shields to Compete in LCA’s First Boxing Match
Boxing will take center stage at Little Caesars Arena in June.
Get ready for some boxing action as Flint, Michigan's own Claressa Shields will be in action for a rematch against Hanna Gabriels. Shields is the undisputed Middleweight World Champion and Gabriels is a four-division champion.
For those that don't know, there is some serious history behind this fight. Shields and Gabriels faced off against one another in 2018. While Shields emerged victorious in the fight, it was also the only time that she has ever been knocked down in a fight as a professional or amateur (at :17 seconds in the video below.) This long-awaited rematch is going to be great.
Another cool thing about the fight is that it will be the first-ever fight inside Little Caesars Arena. It all goes down on Saturday, June 3rd at 6 pm in Detroit. Get ticket details here.
Shields is fresh off a win in her last bout against Savana Marshall on October 15th, 2022. She took that win in a unanimous decision at O2 Arena in Greenwich, London. Hanna Gabriels' last bout was on April 17th, 2021 against Martha Patricia Lara Gaytan, which Gabriels won by TKO.
