Flint is saying goodbye to a family-owned business that's been serving the area for 86 years.

If it feels like Genesee County has been losing one great business after another, it’s because that’s exactly what’s been happening. Over the past few months, we’ve told you about so many businesses closing their doors, including BD’s Mongolian Grill, Joe’s Garage, Mug Shotz, Ponemah Lakeside Lodge, all Rite Aid locations, Roly Poly, Señor Lucky’s, The Burger Bar & Tap, and more. Unfortunately, we’re here to tell you about one more.

After 86 years, the family-owned Knoblock Hardware is closing its doors for good. The announcement was made via social media earlier today.

Knoblock Hardware was known for its many years in business as 'Flint's most unusual hardware store.' The family-owned shop offered an array of tools, hardware, cleaning supplies, and even archery gear. It was also the go-to spot for window and screen repairs.

Knoblock Hardware didn't provide a reason for their closing; they simply announced they were shutting their doors and ending operations, while also thanking the community for many years of support.

Over the years, it has been our privilege to serve you, and we are incredibly grateful for the support and trust you’ve placed in us. We have built strong relationships with our customers, and it has been an honor to be a part of your lives. Your loyalty and patronage have meant so much to us, and we deeply appreciate the opportunity to have worked with you.
We want to express our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for your support over the years. While this is the end of this chapter for our business, we are forever grateful for the relationships we’ve built with you, and we hope you will remember the positive experiences we shared.
Knoblock Hardware was located on Lewis Street in Flint.

Shady Acres Trailer Park in Flint 2016

Shady Acres Trailer Park, Flint, Michigan—Photos from around 2016. The park was established back in 1982 but was abandoned in 2015 when the owner disappeared, leaving behind $120,000 in unpaid water and sewer bills. With no heat or utilities, the residents were left in a tough spot, and the park never recovered. Shady Acres was demolished in 2019.
