Why You’ll See Emergency Crews Swarming Flint Airport Monday
This Monday you may see a wild scene at Flint Bishop Airport. One that might make you do a double-take. We're talking flashing lights, emergency vehicles, and what looks like injured people.
If you or someone you know sees this, don't freak out. There's no reason to panic because it's just a drill.
From 9 a.m. to noon this Monday, May 5, Flint Bishop Airport is running a full-on emergency drill. It’s not real, but it is very serious. This is a chance for the airport and local agencies to see how well they’d handle a real disaster.

Flint Bishop Airport Hosts Live Exercise
According to a press release from the Bishop International Airport Authority, Flint’s Public Safety Team is calling the shots and running the simulation, with help from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, the American Red Cross, local fire and police departments, paramedics, ambulances, hospitals, and even the Civil Air Patrol. It’s a huge operation, and yeah, there will be mock injuries and volunteers getting “treated” at local hospitals.
Like I said, it's going to look like a wild scene, but they can assure you, there is no actual threat to the public.
Nino Sapone, CEO, Flint Bishop Airport:
We’re serious about safety, and practice is key. Our Public Safety Department is always training, but this triennial exercise puts our training to the test. We can’t thank our community partners and area law enforcement agencies enough for the way they’ve stepped up to help us. In the event of a full-scale disaster, we will need their help, and we know we can rely on them.
These are the kinds of things we want our local airport to be doing. We want them to be prepared for anything, and that’s exactly what this exercise is all about.
