On a scale from 1 to 8, how strong do you think your 'Michigan Accent' is? Are you aware that you even have one? Well, if you grew up in the Mitten State, chances are you do.

Personally, I love accents. My wife was born in Tennessee and spent most of her adult life in Michigan. Her accent usually only surfaces on two occasions:
- After spending a couple of minutes visiting her mom in Tenessee or
- When she gets mad (side note: don't laugh at your significant other's accent while they're angry with you—it won't end well)
My daughter and I often spend entire evenings speaking in an English accent. While this amuses us, it often confuses store clerks and restaurant servers (which could embarrass my wife and lead to me hearing her Southern drawl later).
"But, I'm from Michigan; we speak correctly; it's everyone else that has accents." Sorry if you're first reading here, but there are more than a few phrases that residents of the Mitten State say differently than the rest of the English-speaking world.
