Lions Give LT Decker 3 Year Contract Extension

Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes revealed on Detroit radio station 97.1 The Ticket on Monday morning that the team has agreed to a 3-year contract extension with veteran left tackle Taylor Decker (pictured above).

Decker's agent, Jonathan Feinsod announced the agreement on social media:

The deal is for a total of $60 million, with nearly $32 million of it guaranteed.  The deal keeps Decker with the Lions though the 2027 season.  He would've become an unrestricted free agent after this coming season.

Decker, a former first round draft pick by the Lions out of Ohio State, has been a mainstay on the offensive line ever since he came to Detroit in 2016.

Earlier this offseason, the Lions gave starting right tackle Penei Sewell a big contract extension.  It was worth $112 million over four years.  The Decker deal means that four of the Lions' starting five offensive linemen are under contract through at least the 2026 season.  Only left guard Kevin Zeitler is unsigned past this season.

Decker has started 112 games at left tackle for the Lions since he was drafted eight years ago.

In addition to the offensive line, the Lions also gave contract extensions to quarterback Jared Goff and star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown this off-season.

The Lions open preseason play on August 8th at the New York Giants.  They open the regular season on September 8th at Ford Field against Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams.
