US Mint Will Release Michigan Themed Dollar Coin in 2025
Many people collect and look out for state quartered themed around the 50 states. The program which began back in 1999 was wildly popular and was replicated for another run honoring a National Parks Service location in each state and territory.
Less known is the American Innovations Dollar program. The special gold dollar coins are minted 4 per year and celebrate intentions and innovations that came from a particular state or territory.

Michigan's turn in the American Innovation Dollar program arrives in 2025 and will feature a gold dollar honoring the Assembly Line.
The automotive assembly line dates back to 1901 and the R.E. Olds factory in Lansing. Oldsmobiles coming off the assembly line were followed quickly by Fords in Detroit.
The coin, show below in full detail below shows three workers lowering a body on to a chassis with an assembled car in front on the line and a chassis waiting in line next.
Interestingly, another state gets credit in the American Innovations coin program for automotive innovation. That honor went to Indiana in 2022 with a coin featuring three generations of autos from an early gas powered vehicle to an Indy racing car.

The US Mint has not determined a release date for the Michigan dollar but it's slated to be the second issued during the year. Over the history of the program the second release of the year has happened in April.
Don't expect to see any of these coins in change, however. The American Innovations series is not in circulation and the coins are only available from the US Mint or coin shops.
